Classification Of Ballpoint Pens
There are many varieties and styles of ballpoint pens, and there are high, medium and low grades in terms of quality, but in terms of category, they can be divided into oil-based ballpoint pens, water-based ballpoint pens, neutral ballpoint pens, etc.
Water-based ballpoint pen
Also known as a ballpoint pen or ballpoint pen. The barrel and sleeve of the ballpoint pen are molded with plastic injection molding called all-plastic ballpoint pen; The pen sleeve is made of stainless steel stamping and grinding called semi-steel ballpoint pen; The barrel and sleeve are all made of stainless steel called all-steel ballpoint pens. All plastic shapes are basically disposable use, that is, the ink is used up and scrapped; Semi-steel and all-steel types mostly adopt replaceable refill structure. The nibs of the ballball pen are available in cannonball and needle tubes, made of copper alloy, stainless steel or engineering plastic. The balls are mostly made of stainless steel, cemented carbide or alumina and other materials, with a diameter of 0.7 mm for the middle handwriting beads and 0.5 mm for fine handwriting beads. The water storage form is divided into two types: fiber bundle storage and fiberless bundle water storage. The color of the ink is red, blue, black, green, etc. The ballpoint pen combines the characteristics of a fountain pen and an oil-based ballpoint pen, with smooth writing lubrication and uniform lines, making it an ideal writing instrument.
In addition to the above classification, it is common to classify by the color of the ink and the structure of the pen.
Oily ballpoint pen
It can be referred to as a ballpoint pen without causing misunderstandings and confusion.
The pen head balls used are mostly made of stainless steel or cemented carbide materials. The size of the ball diameter determines the thickness of the writing line. Common ball diameters are 1 mm, 0.7 mm, 0.5 mm (often indicated on the pen body or ballpoint refill of the product). The ink of the ballpoint pen is specially made and is mainly made of pigments, solvents and tackifiers. Common colors are blue, black and red. Ordinary ink is mostly used for general writing, and special ink is mostly used for file writing. For ink used for archival writing, there is generally a mark on the refill, such as domestic refills with the word DA.
Oily ballpoint pens are the first generation of ballpoint pen series products, which have been on the market for more than 60 years since they were put on the market in batches. After long-term improvement and improvement, oily ballpoint pen production process mature, stable product performance, long shelf life, stable writing performance, has now become a ballpoint pen in the traditional product varieties, oily ballpoint pen used ink viscosity is high, so the writing feel is relatively heavy.
Neutral ballpoint pen
The gel pen, short for gel ink ballpoint pen, originated in Japan and is a novel writing instrument that is currently popular internationally. According to the type of nib, ink color, structure, etc., it can be divided into different types of gel pens, you can choose according to your own needs.
The gel pen has both the advantages of a water pen and an oily ballpoint pen, comfortable writing feeling, low ink viscosity, and an increase in easily lubricated substances, the viscosity of the writing medium is between water and oil, so it is smoother than ordinary oil-based ballpoint pens, and is an upgrade product of oily ballpoint pens. Gel nib sizes are roughly divided into 1.0mm and 0.5mm.
By color
(1) Monochrome ballpoint pen: This is the most common ballpoint pen, often blue, black, red, etc.
(2) Two-color ballpoint pen: generally red and blue.
(3) Tricolor ballpoint pen: red, blue and black.
(4) Four-color ballpoint pen: red, blue, black and green. In addition to these four, there are six-color, eight-color, and even twelve-colored ballpoint pens.
By structure
(1) Disposable ballpoint pen, the barrel is the refill, neither can add ink, can not change the refill, the ink is used up, can only be discarded.
(2) A ballpoint pen that can change the refill, with buttons, springs, locks, restores and other functions.
(3) The barrel can be rotated to extend or retract the refill.
(4) A new type of ballpoint pen with a combination of ballpoint pen and fountain pen, a combination of ballpoint pen and pencil, a combination of ballpoint pen and an electric pen, a combination of a ballpoint pen and a tiny light bulb, etc.
